pamela moulton
Pamela Moulton is a multi-disciplinary-environmental artist whose human-scale immersive environments are built entirely from derelict fishing gear and marine debris, known in the fishing industry as ghost gear. Her whimsical interactive spaces can be crawled through and occupied, allowing the public to explore environmental consciousness in a direct, material way.
After living in Europe for over three decades, Pamela returned to her roots in Maine. She collaborates with local fishing organizations helping free oceans of the ghost gear that haunts our seas and entangles marine life. Pamela is a community artist who focuses on world-building and collaboration. She also collaborates with schools and organizations to create her installations. Most recently she engaged over 5000 students and volunteers; aged two to 106. Pamela holds an MFA from the Ecole Supérieure d’Art, Aix-en-Provence, France, and BA in studio arts from the University of Vermont and Villa Arson, Nice, France. She studied dance pedagogy at the Institut de Formation des Maîtres in Blois and was commissioned to bring contemporary dance into rural France. She received grants from Kindling Fund, Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts, New England Foundation for the Arts grant, TEMPOart, Maine Arts Commission Visual Arts Fellow, and others. Pamela’s playful and mysterious work has been exhibited in museums internationally including in Albania, India, Italy and France and has been featured in numerous publications.
